Beautiful, fun, and informative. A quick read.
By William J. Pomerantz
This book was a lot of fun. It's a quick read, and a bit silly in places--but those of those are features, rather than bugs.

It would make a great gift for any space fan of almost any age; I've shared it with kids and teenagers, and they've enjoyed it just as much as I did as a professional working in the aerospace industry.

Relevant to one of the other comments left here, you should know what you are getting into before buying this book. It's not a full length. 75,000 word tome: it's a small book (about the size of a music CD case, I'd guess) that's beautiful to look at and full of intriguing and fun facts about the human experience of being an astronaut in space. If that's what you are looking for, you'll be very satisfied with your purchase. Ms. Waldman is a great story teller with an excellent eye for graphic design, and it shows in this book.

This is a quick read that is full of fun and fascinating facts about space travel. Ariel does a great job of bringing together a great collection of insights and experiences from the small group of men and women that have had the privilege of being there.

Nice book, but it is like a coffee table book.
By R. Gilbert
It's a nice book, but do not expect lengthy explanations or pages full of data. It is more like a little coffee table book. It is fun and very well designed, but I expected more details.

Review
"This terrific and surprising collection of tales by a diverse group of writers lives up to Diaz’s “rah-rah” (his term) rallying cry for the form...Count on them to transport you."—USA Today

"Its strongest installment yet... Daz’s compilation is the most diverse and inclusive entry to date of any of the major annual story collections... Essential for every student of the short story form."—Kirkus Reviews, Starred Review

"This year’s collection brings together fine stories by famous fiction writers like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Karen Russell... [while] a great deal of the magic is generated by the appearance of less familiar names...Each of these outstanding stories is, as Diaz observes, a chance to listen 'to some other lone voice struggling to be heard against the great silence.'”—The National Book Review

From the Inside Flap
If the novel is our culture s favored literary form, upon which we heap all our desiccated literary laurels, if the novel is, say our Jaime Lannister, then the short story is our very own Tyrion: the disdained little brother, the perennial underdog. But what an underdog, writes Junot Diaz in his introduction to The Best American Short Stories 2016.

From a Nigerian boy s friendship with his family s former houseboy to a sweatshop girl s experience as a sister wife, from love and murder on the frontier to a meltdown in the academe, these stories, for Diaz, have the economy and power to break hearts bones vanities and cages.

Ten years into her role as series editor, Heidi Pitlor confides, A great pleasure of my job is the rush that comes with discovery...I m reading a new story and not checking how long it is or what time I have to pick up the kids. I m reading and feeling and thinking, and, if I m lucky, laughing too. I m not working at all. A great story has that power: it removes you from your life. It lifts you away from a while. Junot Diaz and I found much to discover this year. "

Strong collection, review of each story
By Sarah B
Junot Diaz, author of Drown and the pulitzer prize-winning The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, is one of my favorite authors, and a champion of the short form, so I got my hands on this book as soon as I could. Diaz's own writing is tight, muscular, soaring and unapologetic. He and series editor Heidi Pitlor have chosen stories with the same daring grace. I particularly love the international perspective in 2016's batch of stories.

The book opens with Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's story about the deep and painful history between a middle class Nigerian boy and his parents' house servant. Adichie is the author of Americanah, and one of the major themes in her stories is the aching tug between what your family and community expects of you, and what you expect of yourself. Apollo is a touching, honest story and the masterful, nostalgic way Adiche tells it demonstrates her skill yet again.

Ravalushan by Mohammed Naseehu Ali, originally published in Bomb blows my mind. 5 stars. It's the story of what happens to a group of neighbors during the little known coup d'etat in Ghana in 1981. Visercal and gutting.

Garments by Tahmima Anam, originally published in Freeman's. 5 stars. Ostenibly about garment workers in Dhaka who implement a scheme to marry the same man for the social stability a married status will provide them, the story is about friendship between three women whose lives are constantly tenuous and fraught.

Wonders of the Shore by Andrea Barrett, originally published in Tin House, 4 stars-- is the history of victorian naturalists and best friends who grow apart during their seaside vacation as one of them comes into her own in the local intelligentsia, while the other has a doomed fling with a painter. The prose is melancholy and staid, it reads like a lovely watercolor painting.

The Bears by Sarah Shun-Lien Bynum, originally published in Glimmer Train--3 stars A woman takes a vacation in the country after a miscarriage. After the first three stories, which were terrible and beautiful explosions, The Bears' slow plot and staid pastoral setting left me wanting more. It is a very reflective piece, and will perhaps appeal to fans of traditional literary fiction.

The Great Silence by Ted Chiang --originally published in flux, and then in Fantasy & Science Fiction Magazine. 5 stars I first read this piece in F&SF, and it brought tears to my eyes. It did again. This is one of the best stories of our age, not just of 2016. Through the perspective of a parrot, it shows the incredibly sad, destructive human instinct to reach outward into our solar system, seeking connection, even as we ignore the plethora of intelligent life on our own planet, and destroy it. The parrot who speaks in this piece is not angry, which is what gets to me most--his last line, as he anticipates his species' extinction, is "You be good. I love you."

The Letecian Age by Yalitza Ferrerras, originally published in the Colorado Review. 5 stars. Heart-crumbling unlikely love story between an astrophysicist and a geologist, narrated in terms of geologic events. Despite my terribly boring description, this has more heart and more life than most of the love stories I've ever read.

For the Love of God, for the God of Love by Lauren Groff, originally published in American Short Fiction. 4 stars A beautifully written story with a unique style. Two husband/wife pairs of old friends await the arrival of the babysitter. This is one of those stories I find hard to describe--in terms of plot, it's about gradual discoveries the characters make about themselves, but it's also about life and death and the world. Just read it.

The Suitcase by Maron Hadero, originally published in Missouri Review. 4 stars. When Saba is preparing to return home from her visit to Addis Ababa, her relatives argue over what she should bring back with her, which gifts for their relatives deserve room in the suitcase. Such a clever way to show the whole lives of generations, and the incredible difference between their lives and Saba's.

Treasure State by Smith Henderson, originally published in Tin House. 3 stars. A pair of brothers decide to strike out on their own when their abusive father vows to return to the house upon his imminent prison release date.

Pat + Sam by Lisa Ko, originally published in Copper Nickel 4 stars. Pat and Sam are the married couple in Ko's novel, and this is the story of how they met. It traces the first exciting flushes of love, to the fear of alienation in a very honest, empathetic way.

Cold Little Bird by Ben Marcus, originally published in the New Yorker. 3 stars. What do you do when your ten-year-old son decides he no longer wants your affection?

The Politics of the Quotidian by Caille Millner, originally published in Zyzzyva 4 stars - Things are not going well for the philosophy grad student at the heart of this story. A woman of color, she is constantly made to feel as if she doesn't belong in the field, and her baffling encounters with her students, her peers, and the administrative staff illustrate her decision to leave.

Bridge by Daniel J. O'Malley, originally published in the Alaska Quarterly Review. 3 stars A little boy thinks he witnesses an old couple jump together off of a bridge behind his house, but as he plumbs his memory, the boundary between fact and fantasy blurs.

The Prospectors by Karen Russell, originally published in the New Yorkers - 5 stars. Russell is one of my favorite authors, and she's done it again in this story about two best friends during the New Deal era of public works. They accidentally end up in a ski lodge full of ghosts who demand that the girls convince them they that are alive. As always, Russell's prose is magic, her descriptions otherworldly, and the overall effect is magisterial.

On This Side by Yuko Sakata, originally published in Iowa Review - 4 stars. When Toru's old schoolmate shows up out of the blue, transitioned now into being a woman, he lets her stay and must deal with his guilt for the way he treated her in school. The rich setting and deep, unspoken currents of emotion drive this story.

Gifted by Sharon Solwitz, originally published in the New England Review - 4 stars, about a woman whose son is diagnosed with cancer after a large tumor is found in his stomach. Solwitz began her larger project as her own son was dying of cancer. As in the best, most human stories, a tragic event is merely a chink through which we can enter into the complex relationship between family members, the reasons and history of affairs, the rivalry between sisters. A very human and unforgettable story.

Secret Stream by Hector Tobar, originally published in Zyzzyva - 3 stars. Nathan follows a mysterious woman as she maps the subterranean flow of one of the oldest natural rivers in L.A.

Williamsburg Bridge by John Edgard Wideman, originally published in Harper's. 2 stars I'm sure it's a good story. I just can't get into a story without much of a plot. These are the ruminations of a man before he jumps off of the Williamsburg bridge.

American writers in our time
By As old as he is...
There's good work throughout this collection, which seems to deliberately focus on work created by any person other than white males. I'm one, so maybe I'm tender, not the tough guy I thought I was. But okay maybe such a focus gives us a fair and responsible idea about the sources of good short story writing in these days of diversity when white males seem to have revolted, rejecting equality for all, and demanding a return of WHmales to the dominant status they [we] used to have. Onward.

Good overview
By NM Reader
While I would question the inclusion of some of the stories in this anthology, it did give me a sense of the type of work that's being published today and who is publishing it. That was the information I was looking for when I bought the book.

Deliberately controversial and well-argued
By larry bus
Peter Newmark's A Textbook of Translation is arguably one of the few classic texts in the occasionally emerging field of translation studies and stands out among the other, often more abstract and cultural theory-inspired works of `translatology' because of its determination to be immediately practical and applicable to actual, hands-on (usually literary) translation work. As such it is an excellent resource for both students of translation as well as practitioners of the trade.

As (relatively) often as Newmark is cited by other writers, it should be understood going into the book that his views are by no means the norm and the author himself is very aware of this. Simplifying the position, Newmark supports loyalty to the original as opposed to the `transcreation' of a new text in the target language. He takes something of a combative, even snooty, stance while defending his argument that the translator's role is to remain essentially invisible and should be there only to relay the message, as exactly and to-the-word as possible, of the original author. For example, the dictum that you must account for every single word in the source text appears constantly throughout the book, which obviously makes a lot of sense in theory. It may be worth noting, though, that most of Newmark's many examples are from French, German and Italian (the book can probably get pretty frustrating at times if you don't claim at least a basic familiarity with these languages), and if you don't have the `luxury' of working with languages as closely related and historically and culturally interactive as these, you may find it difficult to apply his strict warnings against translating with the purpose of conveying the meaning (the gist, or the `spirit') of the original to your own work. Jaded professionals may find themselves at turns amused and wistful when faced with such a forceful argument in favor of the `ideal translation.'

While most readers are going to have a tough time agreeing with all the points in this book, it is still an effective reminder to stay tight with your work and to read your source texts very, very closely. Opinions aside, just about everyone involved or interested in the field will find something useful in the many examples and words of advice that Newmark presents. A Textbook of Translation may be something of a rare find by now, but it's definitely worth a look for both its practical tips and its role in the formation of translation studies.

Not so applicable to Asian language translation
By Bubbha
This book is enlightening, giving a good introduction to the theories of translation. The author is quite opinionated about what is right, favoring strict faith to the original text over the transparency of the translation, which may work well in many circumstances with translation from low-context Western European languages into English.

The advice he gives the reader, however, is much less applicable to the translation into English of languages such as Chinese or Japanese, which are much more high-context than English, and in which vagueness, redundancy, non-linear organization, "understood" information, and run-on sentences are the order of the day. The very nature of Chinese writing, in most circumstances, forces the translator to distance himself from fidelity to the original text, instead trying as accurately as possible to convey the source language writer's meaning in a way that sounds natural and understandable to the reader.

The author's lack of consideration of non-European languages, his over-opinionated demeanor, his sometimes-questionable prose, and the fact that the book is two decades out of date (given the Internet as a valuable resource for professional terminology, proper names and much more) are why I am giving this otherwise engaging and informative book three stars instead of five. It is still a recommended read for anyone who is serious about translation as a career.

Better Red: The Writing and Resistance of Tillie Olsen and Meridel Le Sueur, by Constance Coiner

Better Red is an interdisciplinary study addressing the complicated intersection of American feminism and the political left as refracted in Tillie Olsen's and Meridel Le Sueur's lives and literary texts. The first book-length study to explore these feminist writers' ties to the American Communist Party, it contributes to a reenvisioning of 1930s U.S. Communism as well as to efforts to promote working-class writing as a legitimate category of literary analysis. At once loyal members of the male-dominated Communist party and emerging feminists, Olsen and Le Sueur exhibit in their writing tendencies both toward and away from Party tenets and attitudes--at points subverting formalist as well as orthodox Marxist literary categories. By producing working-class discourse, Olsen and Le Sueur challenge the bourgeois assumptions--often masked as classless and universal--of much canonical literature; and by creating working-class women's writing, they problematize the patriarchal nature of the Left and the masculinist assumptions of much proletarian literature, anticipating the concerns of "second wave" feminists a generation later.

From Publishers Weekly
Blending criticism, biography and oral history, this dense feminist study draws striking parallels between two working-class women writers?Tillie Olsen (born 1912?), whose fiction (Tell Me A Riddle; Yonnondio) has won acclaim, and Meridel Le Sueur (born 1900), novelist (The Girl), reporter and short-story writer who became a cultural icon among feminists in the 1970s. Both were loyal members of the U.S. Communist Party, and both, as emerging feminists, rebelled against the party's entrenched sexism. Coiner, who interviewed Olsen and Le Sueur extensively, observes that both writers made emotional deformities, family relations and the developing consciousness of children central to their writing. By confronting experiences that shape women's lives?pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, battery, rape, sexism, isolation?both writers fulfilled the maxim "the personal is the political," while challenging the acquisitive individualism and patriarchy that they saw as warping features of capitalist society. Conceived as a dissertation, this book will be of most interest to informed readers.

Review

"Olsen and Le Sueur have not faltered in their determination to raise the voice of working class women. Nor have they ceased to encourage, work for, anticipate a just world. Better Red is a meticulous scrutiny of two exceedingly important creative and political lives."--Alice Walker

"Better Red is a great read a dense, fact-filled, lively book about two women writers who were active Communist Party members and who, out of a deep understanding of working women's lives, wrote against the often bossy, misogynist grain of the Party line. Many know Olsen and Le Sueur as feminists, but this is the first book I've read that tells us about these writers' involvement in the Communist movement. Like Olsen and Le Sueur, Coiner has not been afraid of the word 'Communist'."--Grace Paley.

"What a joy to read Better Red! It's the best book I've read on American working class writers since Cary Nelson's Repression and Recovery. Coiner gives us a brilliant study of the hard and committed lives and triumphantly birthed works of Tillie Olsen and Meridel Le Sueur deeply enmeshed in the stories of their lives as working women and as Left-wing political activists. She works her way in and out of these vibrant Thirties fictions to note the way these fiercely talented women negotiated between necessary labor and creativity in the family and the Left communities they fought to keep alive. The anguish and struggle over political issues and life with men and children captivates and heartens the reader who reads with fascination the story of some unjustly neglected Left feminists as Coiner reweaves the torn fabric of the history of American literature and intellectual life."--Jane Marcus, The City College of New York and CUNY Graduate Center

"Better Red is a unique interrogation of the relation of the 'personal' to the 'political' in the writings and careers of two of the richest and most relevant authors of the Great Depression generation. Other feminists scholars may have first opened the door on the hitherto hidden tradition of radical women writers of the Old Left, but Coiner's engaging multifaceted study of Tillie Olsen and Meridel Le Sueur deftly removes the door from its very hinges so that scores of other fascinating and talented left-wing artists may be reclaimed by Coiner's successors. Coiner accomplishes this through a felicitous blend of revisionist cultural history, dual biography, and a feminist literary criticism distinguished by its gendered view of class."--Alan Wald, University of Michigan

"Better Red helps a new and often sceptical fin de sicle generation perceive the artistry and the reach of two of the most striking writers to emerge from America's 'forgotten' decade, the 1930s. Coiner's book presents a rare combination of theoretical sophistication and political dedication."--Paul Lauter, Trinity College and President, American Studies Association

"Incisive and beautifully argued, Better Red goes a long way toward explaining the blindness of the critical establishment regarding issues of class. Coiner brings working-class writing into the heart of discussions of twentieth-century American literature."--Linda Wagner-Martin, University of North Carolina

"...[a] scholarly and sympathetic study."--Tulsa Studies in Women's Literature

"...[a] fascinating study....I was most impressed by Coiner's deft and nuanced analysis of particular works both as reflections of and resistances against the accepted proletarian aesthetic....Scince feminists have made Meridel Le Sueur into a virtual goddess figure, it is as refreshing as it is necessary to find a scholar who is willing to point out the ironies and inconsistencies in her writings....I recommend this book....This book is solid history, subtle literary analysis, and just plain absorbing reading."--Minnesota History

"...Coiner's study gives us hope, a reasonable expectation, that the needed democratic mass movement for freedom and justice will rise again."--Monthly Review

"Better Red demonstrates that [Coiner] is, indeed, a theoretical whiz....[an] incredibly rich portrait...of two legendary left-wing female writers."--The Journal of American History

This is a spectacularly important book.
By Billy Smith (BGS@Montana.edu)
This is an extremely important and readable book about two very important working-class writers. It is one of the finest efforts of its kind to begin to help us rediscover and recover working-class literature as well as to renew the importance of class in our national discussion.

Self Matters: Creating Your Life from the Inside Out, by Phil McGraw

What if there is a You that has never seen the light of day, has never got to say, "Hey, what about me?"

What if there is a You that you have never even met and certainly never permitted to just be, without fear of judgment or condemnation?

What if you live your life on the sidelines in constant fear of failing to please those who forever seem to stand in judgment of you and your life?

What if you discovered that you had settled for what life has served up instead of what you really wanted and needed?

What if you really think and feel things you have never allowed to come out, and certainly never acted on?

What if your marriage is not at all what you really emotionally want and need, but you silently stay the course anyway, selling out your hope to be happy?

What if you are allowing days to turn into weeks and weeks to turn into months and months to turn into years, all adding up to a lifetime of being what some nameless, faceless world has assigned you to be?

If any of these "What ifs" are true in your life, then we need to talk, and through these pages, we will. First, I have some bad news, and I have some good news. The bad news is you are making the choices that have put you in this life circumstance; the good news is you are making the choices that have put you in this life circumstance. Now is the time to make the biggest choice of your life. Through Self Matters, I will help you do just that.

From Publishers Weekly
The well-known "life strategist" and TV personality Dr. Phil begins this upbeat self-help book by recalling one of the most unpleasant phone calls he ever had to make. In 1989, ten years into a flourishing career, McGraw called his father to say that, despite the outward trappings of success, he was miserable. His new plan was to move away and start a new career and a new life. According to McGraw, many people are currently in a similar situation-trapped in unsatisfying lives or jobs that they loathe. Too many people, says McGraw, are "so busy being busy, that they have let the colors fade from their lives." They're worried about superficial matters rather than what's important: "I'll bet 90-plus percent of them spent months, or even years, planning their wedding and almost no time planning their marriage!" To change their lives, McGraw's readers must first complete two questionnaires he designed to assess their "authentic self" and their "congruency" (how someone's current life compares with a vision of an ideal life). With the scores from these tests, readers can then embark upon a specific plan for changing their lives-and for determining which external and internal forces they will, or won't, allow to control their futures. Readers familiar with McGraw's aggressive TV personality may be surprised by this book's thoughtful and serious tone. McGraw's notion of making change is not a simple one-it requires readers to examine every aspect of their daily lives-and it's likely that some readers may not be able to make all the changes he advocates. But his book offers a thorough, realistic resource for those who are committed to turning their lives around to get what they really want and need.

Review
Sigmund Freud eventually concluded that human life is more to be endured than enjoyed, but that is not the attitude borne on the tide of relentlessly cheerful self-help books. Like others of its ilk, this one urges us to live by design, breaking free of the past events and encounters which shackle us in a perpetual victimhood. 'Dr Phil', who is 'known to millions' thanks to his appearances on the Oprah Winfrey show, counteracts negativity and excuses for failure with folksy anecdotes, stern admonitions and the glowing offer of hope. Habitual consumers of manuals for the reinvention of the self will find nothing original or startling here, though the reader new to the genre may as well commence with this as with anything else, since this volume is entirely typical, though less poetic than some. In the main, the book consists of laborious explanations of the obvious, e.g. someone whose face is burned and scarred 'will tell you that it changes how they feel about their inadequacy. They become far more uncertain about going out into the world. In other words, the same disfigurement they suffer physically has also affected their psyche.' It also includes exercises, usually ones which require the making of lists with such headings as Ten Defining Moments, Seven Critical Choices and Five Pivotal People. The rationale for the specific numbers is not revealed, but it is at these points that the book becomes potentially useful, since reviewing those events, decisions and encounters which have had the most powerful effects upon us is a sensible way of tracing the patterns of our lives. Some readers may question the concept of the 'authentic self' which exists untouched by experience, while others will take it as the definition of the soul. Again, acting on the recognition with inner passion may be viewed as regressive utopian folly, or as an essential stage in continuing self-development, depending on one's persepective. Certainly, according to the book jacket, the techniques he advocates have worked for Dr Phil, who now runs a consultancy specializing in 'high-profile' litigation cases, as well as seminars on life skills. Helped my mom...
By RS
I purchased this for my mother who, for over 25 years, had lived with physical, emotional, and mental abuse from my stepfather. He was controlling her every move (I mean, looking at store receipts to see when she left and how long it took her to get home). He dictated when she could call us, her children, when she could see us, where she worked and when - which was in HIS business.
He was and still IS NUTS!!! After my mother left him he literally wrote letters to the FBI saying that while my mother lived with him, she tried to poison him (we have the copies). Moron didn't know that the doctors can do a hair follicle test to see if there's any poison in his body. Instead he told the FBI that a doctor told him that there's no evidence of poison in his body because too much time went by. Luckily the FBI did not believe a word of his ramblings.

It took my sister, my husband, and I over 20 years to get her away from him, and we finally succeeded. She's been away from him now for almost 4 years.

Unfortunately now, my mother feels lost, worthless, and unhappy.

My mother defines who she is by accomplishments such as education. I disagree. I know happy people who have never held a job. I know security guards happy with their lives and doctors who are miserable.

My mother has worked her whole life, from the time she was 14. She lives in the past and regrets not "being smart", not going to school, not being ambitious. She's 57. She had me, her first child at 19 and worked her butt off. I don't know, or see, when she would've had the time to do anything else other than work. Not only that, she was born in Eastern Europe; didn't come to the States until she was 34, where, again, she HAD TO work.
I, and most people would think she has accomplished quite a bit, but what do I know, I'm only her daughter.

Now that she is divorced and not working, she believes she is literally nothing. I certainly don't agree.

Anyway... I know... TMI.

I had never been a fan of Dr. Phil. He seemed arrogant; HOWEVER, I have since changed my opinion. I don't agree with him on everything, but I feel he tells it like it is.

I gave my mother this book on CD and I asked her what she thought. She said that it is as if Dr. Phil wrote this book specifically for her. I drives me crazy because what Dr. Phil says in this book, I have been telling my mother for years. I guess it's the messenger and not necessarily the message.

It is a great, tell it how it is, book. If you're willing to find it within yourself to forgive yourself, change and move on, this is a great, informative book.

Well worth every penny

A Bit Of This & That
By Sylvia Bastani
Not terribly sure that this book will be everyone's cup of tea. It talks a lot about heeding one's authentic self, heeding the clarion call to permit yourself to be the "real" you, but not terribly specific on how to accomplish this feat--other than making enormous changes--friends, relationships, careers, relocation--that many of us dream about but cannot easily do. While I believe he obviously came out on top professionally, he had a lot of good fortune (I.e., Oprah) to bring him to a place of success. Not everyone tries and wins and I wish there was more to this book about planning to make life changes. One last observation: this book could have withstood more editing.

Repair Your Broken Self
By Kindle Customer
I've done so much work on myself in the past, trying to find out who I am and my purpose in life. I've read The Purpose Driven Life, Awareness, The Four Agreements, Dianetics, Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, The Road Less Traveled, and many other books because I was unhappy with my life. I felt stuck. And I know I'm meant for something other than working at a job I hate. Those books helped me open doors inside, clean the glass off many windows, and shed light on many aspects of my life I hadn't thought of in years.

You'll need a journal to write stuff in for this book. So what the difference between this one and The Self Matters Companion is really unclear; from what I saw the companion book has space for your writing, though I doubt it'll be enough. This book takes some of the concepts from other books and mixes them with personal stories from Dr. Phil, the purpose to spark some memories within yourself to apply to the exercise you will take over the next few days. And you should expect to take quite a bit of time to finish these exercises, being as thorough as possible, as honest as possible; some of the later exercises, especially the 5-step Plan, could take a couple weeks. Don't rush through the book and jot down anything or you'll be wasting your time.

You owe it to yourself to find out what you really want in life, to do the best you can for yourself, to be honest with yourself and others. This book showed me that I had to forgive myself after years of self-abuse, self-hatred, guilt, and shame. I couldn't have done it without the help from this book.
